Recipe: Cough Drops

Going for a cough drop? Ya know its just a piece of candy with a little mentol in it. So...why not make your own with even greater healing power of Herbs and good essential oils if you have them on hand. Don't have essential oils? www.goddessofspring.com has wonderful primavera Essential oils- the best and most powerful I have ever used! Believe me I have done my research!
Ok Ok so yes I am going to give you pretty much a sucker recipe. But the difference is what herbs and essential oils you use to boost the healing. The candy is just so your children and maybe husband and friends will actually eat them!

RECIPE:
1 cup prepared Herbal tea (see below for which herbs to use)
2 cup sugar (I have tried Honey and can't get a recipe to turn out-sorry sugar haters)
2 cup Karo syrup
12 drops- peppermint Essential oil
12 drops- Eucalyptice Essential oil

Prepare sucker molds or cookie sheet with oil or cooking spray. In a medium sized pan stir sugar, tea, and syrup together. Bring to a boil and cook to a hard crack-don't let it burn though-stir constantly! When at hard crack add essential oils, coloring (optional) and pour into pan. when cooled slightly score then break into pieces when cooled and roll in slippery elm bark powder or powdered sugar.

TEAS: I like to use: Peppermint, Mullin, Raspberry Leaf, Calendula or sage for my cough drops. I also like to place a few cloves of garlic in my tea as it is steeping for the natural antibiotic addition. Best to use only 3-4 herbs. You can go to the store and get a tea bag that is for colds and flu if you want to go that way.
